“Where are the elegant unlined leather gloves I used to know?” -Ines
Why did gloves disappeared end of last century as a fashion statement?
A little story about how Ines became a little part of history and why Ines started to craft her own gloves.
The return of glamorous leather gloves
Gloves out of fashion, what happened?
At the end of last century, when Ines needed gloves again to protect her hands from being bruised due to an auto-immune disorder, she could not find the thin unlined leather gloves she knew from growing up in the 1950's.
Of course there were nice gloves available but mostly with silk lining, because that was more easy to put on and off.
Not to mention long leather gloves were hard to find, especially in nice and bright colors.
Some luxury brands like Chanel offered some long gloves in their seasonal collections, but these were also lined and not widely available.
The gloves available at that time were dull and boring.
Where are the elegant unlined leather gloves I used to know?
She thought: 'I am going to buy them on the internet, because you can find everything online these times.'
But no, only rubber, acrylic gloves were available on dubious fetish sites..
Then she decided to buy a pair of leather gloves at a high-end warehouse, took the lining out and cut off the fingers so she could protect her hands and still able to type on the computer keyboard.
She began getting lots of nice remarks from family, friends and colleagues about her altered gloves.
Then the idea arose to start her own fancy gloves brand and bring back those elegant thin unlined leather gloves she used to know from the old days..
